Outfit: plaid pants

Well, isn’t that an imaginative post title? But sometimes, you just gotta tell it like it is… Anyway, I’m not sure the star of this show is these cigarette pants, but the scenery. It doesn’t get much more perfectly autumnal than this – blogger done good.
Oh ok, back to the clothes. Well, these cigarette pants I spent months looking for… and then Collectif brought them back anyway (last year) and I snapped them up. So I apologise because if you want them you’re probably going to be back where I was trying to find them forever. The reason I couldn’t feature them right away, though, was because they were such an odd fit on me. My usual size 8 just didn’t fit well at all – it was baggy in the hips and waist, oh and of course approximately two feet too long but that’s standard. So a tailor basically cut enough material out of them to make another pair, but it took me an awful long time to get round to sorting it.
I do really love how high-waisted these are – I think they’re the most high-waisted thing I own, in fact. So much so that I can tuck crop tops like this one into them and they don’t even end up falling out. It’s just a shame that they’re not as fitted as I wanted them to be – you’ll see in these shots they’re still a bit loose in places. It kinda looks like that’s the intention, so I think I just about get away with it…
Anyway, this is an outfit I might very well wear to work (perhaps minus the accessories as I’m too lazy for all that on weekdays), and I feel like it’s good to share one of those every once in a while. I also like sharing more casual outfits here and there, and that’s just what I’ve got coming in my next outfit post…

You have definitly got the backdrop spot on! Autumnal colours galore! Such a shame about the trousers not fitting as you had hoped, but it happens from time and you do look incredibly fab!

I actually think the backdrop is better than my outfit!

Yes to everything but a "Hell Yes!" to that bag!

You can't go wrong with plaid + autumn leaves, you just can't! I don't see anything wrong with a pair of cigarette pants being slightly loose, especially if you plan on wearing them to work. One of the reasons I rarely ever wear mine is because I am not a fan of the close fit, so to me this is definitely a good thing. Bonus for tops staying tucked in – nothing more frustrating than having to tuck shirts back in throughout the day so I say this is all a win win. And that bag- LOVE it.

Yes that's true, a skin-tight fit isn't my favourite work look! Not least for uncomfortable waistlines when you're sitting down all day… I'm wondering from comments if I haven't posted this bag before, which is mad because I use it so much!

I think we're sold the pin-up tight fit by repro brands, when the reality is that's fine for nights out, but as day wear the need to be comfy rules supreme for me! Look at the casual style of stars like Grace Kelly or Marilyn – they both wore looser fit trousers or jeans, often with a man's shirt. You look great! That is a shame you weren't 100% happy after the alterations though. I have had similar frustrating experiences. Have a good week! X

Yeah, I do like the tight fitted look, it's often not that comfortable… Or that authentic, you're right. I've had a lot of bad experiences with tailors 🙁 x

I see what you mean about them being a bit loose in some spots more than you'd prefer but they sure do look good on you!! What a lovely casual fall look that can easily move into winter as well! =D

I get the Madness song Baggy Trousers in my head wearing these!! I think mostly the problem is it's not a fit I'm used to…

Very cute! This is such a perfect, casual 50s/60s look – very Audrey Hepburn. It's so hard to find well fitting pants, isn't it? Your tailor did a really good job altering the pants to fit you, although it's a shame they had to do so much to sort them out.

Yay, I was going for Audrey 😀 I don't usually have terrible trouble with these things as I'm a fortunate hour glass shape, but these were trying to work on my short torso!!

This is such a great casual look. I wanted these trousers for so long and then Hell Bunny released some last season which are quite similar, I still really love these ones. They look great despite being loose in some areas and at least they will be very comfortable. I love the scarf with this outfit, so gorgeous! x

Yes they did you're right! I actually tried those as I was grumpy about the fit issues with these ones, but I decided they were a very peculiar length on my legs… They were one of the most unflattering pairs of trousers I've ever put on in fact for that reason!! x

I remember seeing these pants when they first came out! I lvoe the black piping on them. So cute on you CiCi and I love the way you've styled them.
