Outfit: two spring outfits are better than one

If you’ve ever wondered to yourself ‘Just how small is CiCi? I mean, she’s always banging on about being short, but really?’, well, you’ve come to the right place as you’re finally going to see for yourself that the answer is: pretty small. Particularly when standing side-by-side with her wonderful, but much taller friend, Porcelina (of Porcelina’s World)!
That’s right, over a year since we first met in person, B and I took a drive over to her amazing 30s house in Wales and got under her feet for a whole weekend. She and her husband showed us round St Fagans on a wonderfully sunny day and because we’re both bloggers, we had entirely coordinated our outfits beforehand to be able to take some photos together. Because that’s not strange at all…
Fear not, though, as we weren’t trying to match, but merely look like we’d jumped out of the pages of a fashion catalogue – well, you’ve got to aim high. I had the idea of making myself look even shorter through us both wearing our Lindy Bop Bethan cigarette pants and starkly illuminating the differences in our leg length. Porcelina thought it would be nice to wear them with some spring colours, and thus, these outfits were born. The fact we both chose to wear headscarves was actually a complete fluke, but a rather cute one if I may say so myself.
So the same trousers, but two very different ladies. You’ll notice straight away that these are basically full-length trousers on all 5’1″ of me and they are high-waisted. I really like the shape of these trousers for my body-shape, but they do rather cling to your curves. I didn’t tell Porcelina this, but I had my favourite Rago shapewear on underneath mine, for my less than naturally flat stomach! Unfair advantage, huh? Worked a treat though, je n’regrette rien. Mine are still brand new, so I haven’t washed them yet, but I do find they’re a slightly different shape and material to my black pair and again seem a different fabric to Porcelina’s here too. So don’t take consistency for granted if you buy a pair of these and like them enough to get another one…
And here’s what Porcelina thinks of them: these Lindybop trousers are more calf grazing than ankle-grazing on my 5’9″ frame!  The waist isn’t quite reaching my natural waist either, but it’s not too far off.  I love the light cotton fabric, and the absence of pockets helps keep a sleek silhouette.  On the downside, I have only worn and washed these a few times, and they’ve already faded a little bit.  These are a great everyday casual trouser that I am not worried about wrecking.
Obviously, we’re both fabulous and we’re not inviting a comparison, but isn’t it funny how different the same pair of trousers can look?
Don’t forget to read Porcelina’s side of the story!

You certainly do look like you have walked out of the pages of a vintage catalog and it is fantastic! Your poses are so fabulous! And of course, nothing lovelier than pastels in spring and from these photos it looks like the flowers in the castle gardens are in full bloom. Great seeing you gorgeous ladies together!

    • April 12, 2016 / 12:10 pm

Why, thank you! I think our poses are fluke – but a happy one 😉

Gooood morning!! Aw, we look quite sweet really. It was so much fun, thanks again for the suggestion. I hope my face doesn't deter any blog traffic for you!! Xx

    • April 12, 2016 / 12:11 pm

Your face is only going to bring people in – especially those that are bored of mine (that can't just be me)!!

  3. April 12, 2016 / 8:50 am

Such cute outfits! It's great to see one item on two different people – especially looking *good* on two different people. Did you deliberately choose the same lippie or was that a happy accident?

    • April 12, 2016 / 12:11 pm

Yeah this had the potential to be 'look at this dress look awful on CiCi but amazing on Porcelina, for sure!', as a lot of stuff looks bad on me because of my short stature! But cropped trousers can always be full-lengths… The lippie was totally planned 😉

Love this post – and yes, it does look very "vintage magazine shoot!" I'm now very tempted by the dogtooth version of these – I have them in black and red so far, but I'm thinking you can't really have too many of them! Like Porcelina, I suspect they won't get through too many washes without losing colour (or not the black and red ones, anyway), but they're still pretty good value!

    • April 12, 2016 / 12:13 pm

I don't think so, they're cheap and they tend to be quite flattering! My black pair are a bit tighter than these ones, and do a better job of holding me in, but both fit pretty well really! I think the fabric of the dogtooth seems different to the polka dot and black, so maybe they'll wash a bit better…

Beautiful photos girls, I love seeing two bloggers together in photos! Loving those pants on both of you! xo

  6. April 12, 2016 / 12:09 pm

I have been waiting for to see these photos!! I love following both of your blogs so it is great to see you two hanging out! Outfit perfection too – loving your blue accessories with the yellow top and those trousers look amazing on you both! x

    • April 12, 2016 / 12:13 pm

Aw, thanks Kayla! I think the sun is making them look more blue than the mint green they actually were, but it was a good combo regardless! x

  7. April 12, 2016 / 2:37 pm

You both look so absolutely fabulous and flawless! Love both of your outfits. You literally look like you stepped out of a vintage fashion catalogue!

  8. April 12, 2016 / 4:45 pm

You both look truly gorgeous – and what a lovely day and beautiful location. It is really interesting to see the pants on you both. I am not sure they would suit me anyway, but I would be somewhere between the two of you – I guess they would be just above ankle as a result! Thanks for some lovely photos. Kx

You both look so amazing, and really look like you popped out of a vintage magazine! I love seeing two of my favourite bloggers together in one post!

  10. April 12, 2016 / 8:55 pm

Oh my gosh, this is too cute! You both look totally cool and chic and I love it!

  11. April 12, 2016 / 11:22 pm

    This is so fun!
If you don't mind me asking – which style of Rago did you wear? I am in the market for some shapewear I can wear under pants!

  12. April 13, 2016 / 4:58 am

You definitely look like you've stepped straight out of a magazine from the 50's and I LOVE it! Both of you look fantastic! I've been meeting a few bloggers lately and never have I felt so tall; I've never thought of myself as very tall (5'6.5") but I then met up with Sara Lily of In a Nutshell and she's significantly shorter than me, and Hilary of The Cutie Life, and she's barely 5' tall. It's a weird feeling being that much taller than someone else! Kind of fun, I always did want to be taller.

Anyway! I love how both of you styled those pants, and especially the patterns on them!

Off-the-charts cool post! I adore you both to no end and can't stop beaming from ear-to-ear over seeing the two of you together in the same post. Tres awesome, my uber stylish friends!

  14. April 13, 2016 / 2:10 pm

Aw, the two of you look so fabulous! It such a great idea to see the same item on two completely different people. Fantastic post!

  15. April 13, 2016 / 3:36 pm

You both look gorgeous and I hope you had lots of fun together. I like taking pictures together with my cousin who is like 10cm than me, it always looks a bit funny especially since I usually wear heels and she doesn't 😀

I also like your trousers. I really wanted to get them in the dogtooth print, but they don't look high waisted enough for my 172cm/5'8 frame :/ I don't mind the calf lenght, but I'd really prefer a true high waist.

  16. April 13, 2016 / 3:47 pm

You both look fabulous! I love the trick on the stairs so you are "looking down" at Porcelina!

  17. April 15, 2016 / 3:12 am

Seriously? You guys are too f-ing cute. You both look so good! You definitely succeeded in looking like you stepped out of a magazine (or catalog or whatever). It's just the right level of coordinating but not perfectly matching that you could have theoretically done it accidentally. It's really fun that both of you matched your bags to your shoes, and that her top matches your accessories.
Also, now I want to go to Wales.

  18. April 16, 2016 / 9:15 am

These pastel tones you have both chosen are so charming! And these trousers look fantastic on you both!!!

  19. April 20, 2016 / 3:57 pm

Such a cute post! Love seeing your two gals together! And I love the comparison on how the same pants can fit different heights! Super cute outfits! Sounds like you had a blast visiting Porcelina! Love it!
