Before I started wearing red lipsticks, weirdly I began with orange. A much harder colour to wear for most people, but I liked that retro orangey red lip look and was determined to try. Luckily for me, it worked! I think orange lips are such a lovely summery thing – and looking out at the snow (snow?!) perhaps summer is still a long way off in the UK, but there’s always nights out!
The first thing to say is that, sadly, the orange lipstick I own that is made by Ruby & Millie doesn’t seem to exist anymore. So I’ll give you some suggested alternatives for orange-reds at the end of this post… and hopefully these pictures will help give you an idea of the colour I’m working with.

Orange lipstick is one of those things that you truly don’t know how it will look on you until you try it, I think. You might assume it will look awful and then be pleasantly surprised! I’ve seen it look absolutely wonderful with a suntan – a real pop of summer colour.
Alternatives
Even eBay don’t seem to have any tubes left of my beloved Ruby & Millie lipstick, so you’re probably going to have to source an alternative if you want to try this look yourself…
Here’s a few I’ve come across:
Bold – Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick – Orange Fizz
Softer – Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick – Siren
Red-toned (for if you fear the orange!) – Mac Matte Lipstick – So Chaud
Bright orange – Morange – Mac
