I talked in my last post about how I was struggling to find my style again, I just know it’s not what it used to be. I feel like this outfit is getting there, but I couldn’t tell you why!
I know I still love vintage-inspired looks and that a lot of modern shapes aren’t for me (can anyone tell me why so much of it is oversized right now??). I still love the repro brands, but I find I look at a lot of styles more to admire them than actually wear them. One that I’ve come to love a lot more lately, though, is Collectif’s 60s/70s brand Bright & Beautiful. They really have some particularly one-off pieces, like this dress, that I find a bit more everyday somehow.
The print, the colours, the shape and the ruffles all make it feel a bit different and special. I wasn’t sure at all how it was going to look on me – right up until I saw these photos, in fact. Then I decided actually, I kind of love it. B says it’s his favourite look I’ve styled for the blog since Sadie came along. He then told me he especially liked the print because it looks like his gadgets’ screensaver, though, so maybe we don’t take his word for it…
One tip for this dress, if you’re petite like me – not only is it a good length, but you can fold the cuffs back on themselves like I have here and I don’t think anyone’s any the wiser – or unbutton them and roll them up if you want to wear them shorter still. I found the sizing pretty true to B&B – it comes up ever so slightly smaller than Collectif, but I’m in my usual Collectif size, just about.
