Shopping the classic 50s shape style when you’re short is a bit of a pain. None of the main brands have a petite range, so if you’re short, you often find styles don’t fit right in the body and the skirt is just a bit too long. It’s all a bit frustrating.
As I’ve found myself moving away from the look a bit lately, that’s probably one of the driving factors. I just don’t have the time or money to get things altered anymore – my patience for clothes that don’t fit from the get-go is pretty non-existent these days. And a super long skirt when you’re on the floor with a toddler a lot isn’t very practical.
Hell Bunny to the rescue! I’ve loved their half sleeve midi dress style, I had one in a different print and it was an ok fit (and looked nice in pictures), but I knew it would have been better with tailoring to shorten everything. I was so pleased to see what looked like an identical style, but with a shorter skirt in their new winter range. Turns out, that’s exactly what it is – and it’s super cute!
As it turns out, while dresses like this exist I’m not ready to give up my vintage style just yet…
