Outfit: style 2.0

So I was slightly worried when I loaded the blog up that it would have vanished, it’s been that long since I’ve posted – but it’s never been my intention to stop completely! A baby just gets in the way… And my own mind, I guess – in that, when it comes to my style, I’m not sure I know it anymore!

Bags and bags and bags of clothes have exited my wardrobe and gone to new homes – and I actually feel really good about it. But also puzzled about what it is I DO want to wear these days. And honestly, it takes seeing a piece to know that.

This jumpsuit was one of those pieces. The minute I saw it I knew it was the ‘new’ me. I couldn’t tell you why though! My new style identity is definitely something I’m still figuring out – but it’s certainly a bonus if it’s suitable for crawling around after a 9-month-old!

This jumpsuit is from Hell Bunny and it’s super comfortable – it has an elasticated waist and pockets (which I’m finding harder and harder to live without as I’m often carrying a small person) and it’s a lovely soft, light material that’ll be great for hot weather. I need to point out I’ve used the waist belt as a neck scarf and added my own belt, just cos I wanted to. I’m never a huge fan of fabric belts personally and I needed a thicker one because of how this jumpsuit sat on me (I’m pretty short and the fit isn’t exactly as intended!). I also need to mention that the wrap top has a hidden snap closure which makes it a fab choice for anyone who’s breastfeeding – which, I still am, so it’s been tested!

I was worried about how a jumpsuit for an average height person was going to look on short ol’ me, but actually I rather like this! Usually I’d baulk at something a ‘weird’ length, as I’d call it, but even that’s starting to grow on me these days… who even am I anymore?! What do you think – weird length, or working it??

OK I am REALLY digging this! Jumpsuits are so cute but I hate how much work it takes to use the bathroom in them haha! However, I love that this one has an elastic waist and looks SO comfortable! The length really works on you – and I would be nervous too, being as short as you are!

This is true! It never stops feeling wrong does it?! I’m always willing to suffer for fashion though, ha! To be fair if it wasn’t also comfortable, I probably wouldn’t be game, but you’re right that it’s so comfy!

Well if this is the ‘new you’, I look forward very much to seeing more outfits if they’re all as fabulous as this! I really like the length on you, it’s not weird at all. And you always look so good in green. It’s funny how our style evolves over time, I definitely became less polished the closer to my PhD deadline I got, but I’m not keen to go back to a lot of it. I have also been ditching a lot of clothes, and trying to stick to the things that make me feel best, rather than look best, if that makes sense. Some people like to stick to exactly the same style over their life – I wonder if the Queen ever fancies just putting on a jumpsuit for a change?! xx

I think it looked weirder in the mirror than it does on camera – sometimes it goes like that, so I always like to see in 2D before I write something off! It feels like a lot of long time vintage style bloggers are having a bit of a change at the moment, and actually it’s really nice that we’re all doing it together 😀 xx
