Outfit: red to chase the grey

Guys, I’m struggling. I keep going on about it, but I just can’t hack winter this year. It. Has. Not. Stopped. Being. Grey. Usually with rain and wind and temperatures under 5 degrees. It’s not only horrible conditions to take photos for this here blog, but also doesn’t really make me feel like getting dressed nice either. Or at all, really – who’d want to leave the house in this? I struggle every year with the cold months but this has definitely been one of the worst I remember (although also for other reasons I’ll go into in another post soon).

So this outfit is a rare example recently where I actually tried, and again it’s thanks to Karina Dresses for sending me another pretty to review. And yes, it also helps that these dresses are mega comfortable. Red is always one of my feel-good colours, which is why it was one of the main colours at my wedding (and if you’re a new reader, I’ve put all of my wedding posts in one handy place for you). In the summer, there’s not much some red lippy can’t fix… but it’s not quite enough in the winter! This dress gave it a good go at cheering me up – and I do think the pattern is a bit different but totally cute. This particular style is sleeveless though, and that certainly wasn’t happening! I actually wore this dress on Christmas day, which is how I first tested the you-can-eat-all-the-food-in-Karina-dresses theory.

As I type this, one of my favourite summer songs, The Beach Boys’ Kokomo has come on the radio. Is it to remind me that better days are ahead…? Or to answer the question in my head I was just asking about whether I should post up a honeymoon look I never got round to sharing while it’s still freezing out?? I’d like to think it might be both! Like so many things, this funk is just temporary and I’m sure the sun is round the corner…

This red dress is so cheery, thank you!! Love that obi style belt with it too. Right, I am going to use your inspiration and dig out something red to wear to a conference tomorrow, I was getting bright colour deprivation syndrome I think. It was icy fog for us this morning, then about 1 hour of sunshine (which I grabbed by going for a speed-walk after a meeting, I even wished I’d had sunglasses) and now it’s back to grey. Sigh.

You’re not alone in feeling ‘meh’ about this January. But, it’s nearly at an end, so hang on in there. As soon as we’re into February, it’s a short month, then March will arrive and bring Spring with it.

What a lovely look for winter. I always like red and black together and you really do pull it off. I am with you on the winter. I normally quite like the winter season, but this year it has been so cold and damp and I find myself longing for spring. Kx

Red always looks stunning on you, so no wonder you turn to it to lift your mood! This dress is super cute on you, and I love how you’ve winterized this with all black accessories. And spring will be here before you know it. 😉

Love this outfit! It sounds like a struggle with the cold, especially when staying in your pjs seems like the best idea at the time. The boots and belt look amazing with this dress x
