Dreaming of a kitsch Christmas with Erstwilder

My brooch collection is rather large these days, but I just can't say no to more Christmas brooches! Luckily for me, Erstwilder has another cute range out this year for me to get my mit(ten)s on. And if you find early November too soon for Christmas, maybe I won't tell you I bought a new tree (more on the whys of a third new tree in as many years later) and claiming I was 'testing it out' set it up and then left it :D

Kitschy Christmas three Erstwilder brooches

My choices consist of the classic wreath, the cute mittens and a brooch I like to think of as an outdoor Christmas tree... I mean, I don't know if that's what they were going for, but I liked it because it reminds me so much of our village tree on the green, as it's pretty much just a massive, unwieldy tree they stick lights on.

Anyway, as much as I'm sure you want me to ramble on some more about a tree you've never seen, let's show you some ways I'm thinking of styling the brooches...

Holly hair comb: Alternate Normality

It'd be easy to go overboard on the green and red to compliment this brooch, but I thought I'd mix it up a bit and go for a darker emerald green and burgundy pairing, which helps it stand out. I'll be honest, I look for any way to wear my new holly hair piece (on sale soon from Alternate Normality!). This was actually commissioned (by me) to match a dress I'll share with you closer to Christmas, so it's not the last you'll see of it. Anyway, I never feel any home is decorated for Christmas without a wreath, so this brooch was an easy choice for me - I love the glitter in the red parts.

The village tree brooch! Which is actually a lot bigger than I was expecting (kind of like the real thing), so it works well with a slash neck top because it needs the material. I like the mint green on this brooch because it's one of my favourite colours - and the mix of silver/grey and mint green is kind of subtly festive. Lovely.

Who doesn't love a big, warm pair of mittens? I'll be honest, it was the colour scheme that caught my eye on this brooch because I love red and light blue together, as anyone who saw my wedding pics will know. I also had half a mind on a planned trip to the Christmas markets in Cologne in December as I thought it would look cute on my coat when I'm all bundled up...

...But things didn't quite go to plan there. Which links in with why we had to get a new, smaller tree.  Partly it was for the boring reason that we rearranged some furniture and need to put it on a unit now, but more excitingly than that, we don't want our new puppy to eat the baubles if the tree was on the floor! That's right, we are off at the weekend to meet the little boy dog who should become ours in mid December! I feel like I've been waiting for this day all my life, honestly. I'll try to get some Instagram stories on Sunday, so make sure you're following for the cutest thing you're gonna see all week! Assuming all goes well you'll hear a lot more about that soon. Probably too much, if I'm honest ;)

The week will definitely end better than it started - as having had three wisdom teeth out I ended up in hospital for most of yesterday on a drip of fluids and painkillers, being tested for a scary life-threatening infection (which I don't have, phew). I currently have a swollen face only Dr Frankenstein could love... Here's hoping it goes down by Christmas!!

  1. Oh noooo to the Frankenstein face!! I'm glad you are ok but it must have been a tad scary in hospital. I hope you feel better soon. I'm sure that the PUPPY will make you feel good!!!! That's amazing news, congratulations! I can't wait to meet them.

I am loving all the christmassy Erstwilder brooches, it's the reindeer one I'm trying to find in the UK but failing to do so. I do like a classic wreath also though.

So looking forward to puppy cuteness!! Xx

  4. Cute brooches, perfect for the holidays. But you really buried the lead here - you're getting a puppy?! That's so great! I keep trying to convince my boyfriend that we should get a dog, but he's not going for it quite yet. I can't wait to see photos of your new family member.

  5. Oh, your poor face! Dental pain is the pits; I hope you're feeling better now. A puppy is going to be so exciting.

  6. Is it weird that the tree brooch reminded me of Christmas cookies? Putting the tree up and out of the new pup's reach is a very good call, which reminds me I'm going ornament shopping tomorrow ;)
