Outfit: lighthouse lovely

So, a side effect of planning a wedding at the seaside is that all I can think about is... the seaside. And red, white and blue. And beach huts and life rings and anchors... You get the idea, I'm nautically-minded right now. So if you don't like the nautical trend, er... We probably can't be friends anymore because it's actually now My Life.

It wasn't a conscious decision, I just keep finding myself drawn to the things I'm thinking about on a near constant basis thanks to the wedding. It's made me realise that despite several trips to the coast a year, I didn't actually have all that much with a seaside theme in my wardrobe. Er, I do now... and I think the star of them all, despite how much I like the anchor print dress I just showed you, is this skirt. I just love the print - I love that it uses cream (not white!) and light blue as well as red and navy and I love the little lighthouses. It also hangs so nicely thanks to the pleats (I do have a light petticoat on here too) and - everyone's favourite - it has pockets. For me, this pattern is the star of Hell Bunny's spring/summer 2017 releases and it was hard work choosing between the skirt and the dress (which is worth waiting for if you prefer them), but you all know I love my separates (reminder: you can get any of the new range or otherwise for 20% off - see my code at the bottom of this post!).

It was very kind of the North Norfolk coastline to oblige with matching beachhuts. Actually, do you know how many times we've tried to shoot at these huts? They've been top of my seaside hitlist for at least two years. We visit them all the time as they just so happen to be in the very place we're getting married! The weather has just never obliged in the past. It's basically at the open sea, so it's pretty windy along here some days, when it's not raining. But this day was different, it was like it was waiting for this skirt. We'd just finished a meeting with our venue and the morning's rain had just cleared (you can see the puddles below!), lifting some of the grey clouds until we got this hazy sky you can see in the photos aka a blogger's dream. Now if it could just do that again for my wedding day photos, I'd be really quite happy...

  1. You've got a bit of seaside sauciness in your eyes in these photos! Maybe it's a bridal glow getting ever closer to your big day?! What a pretty skirt that is, it has much more of a retro vibe rather than a modern take on it, a print like that wouldn't have been out of place in the 80s. Your accessorising is perfect, as always.

I've been looking at Norfolk places to visit. I think you should hold the wedding at the fabulously named 'Horsey Windpump' if it's not too late to switch?! Xx

    1. I think what it was is for once it wasn't so cold I almost froze a limb off and I was really happy about it - so it's probably showing in my face ;)

      Horsey Windpump?! That's amazing. xx

    1. I don't want to toot my own horn but... yeah, nailed it ;) It's so hard at the coast, it's nearly always windy. Wait, why am I marrying there again? Because I hate myself.

  4. Absolutely fabulous! I love the bold, bright print of the skirt, and it's really fun that you've kept the nautical theme going from top to toe. The tie front top is really cute on its own - I could definitely see rocking this with a cute pair of shorts in the summer - and the diving girl necklace is seriously adorable! And are those some back seam stockings? Love it.

    1. Well, you know me, if I do a theme I do it to death ;) Oh for sure, this top is going to become a staple too - I'd been eyeing it up forever! Whoops forgot to mention those seams, but yes, it's not quite non-tights weather over here yet (understatement alert).

  5. When I flipped through the Hell Bunny catalog I saw this skirt and instantly thought of you - and here it is! This entire outfit and the location are absolutely spectacular and truly do justice to Sabrina the Swimmer who is my favourite piece from Erstwilders latest nautical collection. These photos are indeed every bloggers dream - picturesque location - check, great lighting - check - perfectly coordinating outfit - yes!!! It was very kind of the weather to behave so that you could get these photos, this is so far my favourite outfit on you this year - although I am really biased because 1) I love nautical, and 2) I love that necklace!

  10. It looks lovely. I can't get over what a great colour match the beach huts are to your outfit.

North Norfolk is a bit breezy, you did well to get a 'flat' day.

    Have a wonderful weekend,
