Outfit: strawberry sundae

Ah, September. That month where I play the game of ‘how long can I kid myself that summer isn’t over?’. Luckily for me, all things considered we’ve had a pretty decent summer this year with lots of sunshine and warm weather and it’s even hanging around for a bit longer than expected so it kind of still IS summer right now. So, one more summer outfit for the road, eh?
Well, hello again there, strawberry bag. You haven’t featured in nearly enough outfits this year yet. That’s why I thought it about time I found another way to show you off and I think you’ll agree I’ve done you justice. Actually, my favourite thing about this outfit might be the top and not the bag! On the surface of it, it’s just another stripey bardot top like the other, er, 4?, I’ve got in my closet. But no, it’s much more than that. What you’re looking at here is the only and I mean only bardot top I’ve ever worn that stays in place off the shoulder. Say what?! I know, I didn’t think I’d live to see the day either. It’s also super soft and comfortable to wear. In fact, I love it so much I’ve been stalking Dolly & Dotty’s website for the black version to come back into stock in my size ever since. I should add it’s on sale right now in loads of colours for £8 so RUN!
Of course the skirt is totally adorable too, there’s no denying that. It is a snug fit, I’m not gonna lie – this 8 is on the small side – but I liked the shape it gave me so I went with it. And can we please not talk about the shoes? Yes, those shoes. The shoes I really shouldn’t have bought. Them. Why can I leave no pair of Hasbeens in the sale behind?

Hello gorgeous! So I know I've said this before, but I really like how you mix prints. You really know what combinations work and as a result you've created such a striking look! Leaving the Hasbeens behind would have been a tragedy, you did the right thing. I mean they are going to go perfectly with so many summer outfits, it would have been rude not to!

Shucks, Harlow! I always feel like I'm quite lazy about mixing prints, so I was making a bit of an effort here, glad if it paid off!! I definitely needed gold clogs, because who doesn't right?!

Love this pin up gal outfit! Especially that extra high waisted skirt.

You have an addiction. I've found, the sooner you recognize that fact and move on the sooner you will need a larger shoe closet. Ha ha!

In my new house I've got piles of shoes in the converted garage, so they're quite literally out of sight out of mind and I can pretend I have no problem at all 😀

Expert print mixer at work!! This is a classy pinup look, love it. I adore the green scarf tying in with the leaves on the skirt too. I think we had quite a different summer in Wales to the East of the UK, but that's really not unusual!! Today has been sunny ALL day though. Miraculous. Xx

It was borderline not going to work, but I think the scarf pulled it in a bit!! Sounds like we did, I really can't complain about the summer we had over here. One of the best in recent memory! Shame about today… xxx

Gorgeous outfit, I love the strawberry print and it works so well with the bag. I have the same sunglasses, but they don't look even nearly as good on me, and I'm afraid that if I tried Dolly & Dotty pencil skirt, I wouldn't be able to pull it over my big butt. I managed to stuff myself into a Collectif Fiona skirt, but the fabric went bad soon, because it was too tight on my hips/butt and ever since I've been hesistant about buying cotton skirts. But I'd really like to try Dolly & Dotty, so maybe I'll eventually buy a dress or something. 🙂

This skirt was definitely more fitted on my waist than my rear-end, in case that helps 😉 I'll admit I'm more apple than pear though, so I don't tend to have problems in that area. Dolly & Dotty have a tonne of swing styles though and I've thought for the money they're very good so do check them out!

I wholeheartedly support your habit of buying Swedish Hasbeens- I couldn't have left those behind either!!! I love gold shoes, and they add just the right amount of shine to this outfit 🙂

I think it's progressed from a habit to a problem!!

Everything is sooo on point with this outfit ~ I just adore your print mixing here. And that striped top is just too gorgeous, particularly with the classic strawberry bag {yes, strawberries are classic… They always will be in my books!}. Also, no shoes left behind!! The SH are super perfect, I love these gold ones because I really feel like they would go with just about everything. ❤

That is the exact logic I used to convince myself to buy them 😀 and we'll now watch as I wear them all of once next year… haha! xxx

This whole outfit is so wonderfully and completely charming. It's one of those looks that just makes you smile and feel better about the world when you see it. I say, hold onto summer for as long as you can. As much as I massively adore fall time, I'm in no epic hurry to part way with the sizzling hot months myself either (she said, *cough, cough* while wearing a pumpkin hued sweater :D).

Big hugs & joyful tail end of summer wishes,
    ♥ Jessica

I think yesterday was our last day of summer, so I need to say my goodbyes now. My post was well timed for that reason! Thanks for the lovely comments as ever xx

You are so good at mixing prints, I would have never put these two together and they work perfectly!!! Gorgeous as always! You have me excited to pull out my strawberry purse and playsuit for summer x

    • September 16, 2016 / 12:39 pm

And I have myself sad to put mine away *sob* x

Love this one more Summer outfit for the road! <3 Apparently the official official start of summer will be on the 22th so you are not wrong 😉 Love this strawberry purse so much I had to get my own! <3

  10. September 18, 2016 / 5:45 am

Wow, you look absolutely amazing in this outfit! I love, love that strawberry skirt and that top together…it really works on you! xo

  11. September 19, 2016 / 12:16 am

Love this! That print mixing is top notch – I love that you managed to include a stripe and a floral, along with the bold color combo of red, white, mint, and gold, all in one outfit, and managed to look smashing doing it. It helps that everything suits you to an absolute T.
Weird side note, but I like the eyebrows! They seem a bit bolder than I remember, and it really brings out your eyes.

    • September 20, 2016 / 12:53 pm

It was a bit of a risk and I wasn't sure how well it had worked so I'm glad to hear if it did to be honest!
Ha, they were probably the darkest/boldest I've ever done and I looked at these photos and went 'whoa, tone down the brow pomade next time!' I think I just randomly did them really heavy for no reason. I wasn't sure about them so it's nice to hear they're not as bad as I thought!!

Just the right amount of a kitschy sprinkle on an otherwise very lady like, sophisticated look! Print mixing queen strikes again! Brilliant!!! And the Bardot top that doesn't roll up constantly to the point that I want to kill myself or rip the top off my body in an Incredible Hulk move. Can it really be possible?
