Outfit: strawberry cheesecake

Most of the time, I don't have my legs out at all, but I can't resist a pair of high-waisted denim shorts because I find them such a versatile summer staple. And if you're going to get them out, it's fun to add some heels and look like you've walked out of a pin-up poster...

I was really pleased to see these shorts in Collectif's summer range this year - and even more pleased when I found the super high waist wasn't uncomfortable. Admittedly, the waist is slightly large on me in my usual size, which for Collectif is surprising as I've often had to size up in bottoms, so if you want a really fitted pair I'd say you could probably size down. For comfort though, I've probably got the right size and just need to add a belt.

I hope everyone is as happy as I am to see the now infamous Collectif strawberry bag paired with this cardigan! So satisfying. I was expecting I wouldn't get a lot of wear out of this cardigan, due to its colour and contrasting embroidery, but it's one of those surprise pieces that I keep reaching for. This actually shouldn't be such a shock considering how much I wear red and how mint seems to go with way more than you think it would. Note to self: Buy all the mint. (Self: Way ahead of you!)

Now I just need to take this outfit to a real picnic (rather than just a picnic blanket for posing, heh)... with strawberries for afters, of course! If you like either the cardigan or the shorts I'm featuring here, by the way, my advice is to be quick if you want to snap them up, as Collectif's summer pieces have been flying out the door as soon as they land this year! Oh and the strawberry bag is currently in stock, but we all know that doesn't hang around for long...

Not seen in these photos, by the way, is the local dog-walking group in the distance, and then the two chocolate labradors and collie who bolted across the field to jump all over me. Epic fail on B's part to not capture that, eh? It might have actually been cute, because I'm genuinely never happier than when with dogs... So, apologies that you had to put up with the usual dog-less posing after all!

  1. Perfectly pin-up! You need to turn this into a Strawberry Shortcake is all grown-up calendar! LOL You know the character Strawberry Shortcake right?

The shorts are fab. They make you legs look super long.

    1. Ha, yes, I'm familiar! I'll take that as a compliment ;)

I actually think it helps that the shorts aren't skin tight as it doesn't draw attention to my thighs and makes my legs look slimmer as a result. Not that my thighs are huge, but anything looks big when there's fabric cutting into them!

  2. *Fashion squeal!* This is an off-the-charts adorable - and awesomely well coordinated - warm weather outfit, sweet CiCi. I love every last element to bits and can't stress how fabulous you look.

Oodles of hugs & happy Friday wishes,
    ♥ Jessica

  3. I love strawberries - they work so well as a print and accessory, and they are delicious. My favorite thing has always been to go pick them in a field! Are there any strawberry farms in your area? I can just picture you wearing this outfit on a strawberry picking adventure as it looks both very comfortable and practical. I love how flattering vintage high waisted shorts are, they are the only style I am willing to wear and this pair looks fantastic on you!

    1. Me too - and I don't like a massive amount of fruit (I wish I did, but I just don't and can't force it!). I love strawberry picking too - and yes, the UK is pretty good for farms :) There's a particularly large number of them near where we go to stay by the coast, so I hope to get back there again, in this get-up of course, soon!

  4. I love it! These shorts rule - they don't appear to be super short either. That's a nice plus. It's good to know that your booty is safe and covered - I hate when shorts are way too short!!

    1. No they're not super short and I completely agree with you - what is with the trend for hot pants. Very, very few people suit them!!

  5. Now that's what I call a perfect outfit! I really need to grab those shorts soon, I've waited a long time for them to be available (ever since I saw them in SS16 catalog), wouldn't want to miss them now :) Oh and I think I'll need to get the bag too, it's adorable!

    1. Yes, I had my eye on these from day one too! I knew they'd be a great staple for my summer wardrobe :D The bag is still one of my absolute favourites, it's just too cute. And my giant phone just about fits in it, ha!

  6. You look foxy! These shorts look really fab on you, and I love this strawberry mint pairing (which would make a really tasty dessert too, I'm thinking. Maybe food related color pairings is the way to go in the future). And yes, it is a pity your boy didn't get an snaps of you with the dogs!
I'm kind of pained to admit how often I grab a pair of cutoffs that I made out of Brian's old jeans when it's hot out. I only wish I could look this polished most of the time.

    1. I love strawberry and mint - probably even more to wear than to eat. It just works so well :) Ha, I am just imagining B's face if I attempted to make something out of his jeans, considering he has approximately two pairs that are in constant rotation...
