Outfit: sunhat sophistication

So, I’m back from Marseille – it was amazing. The weather was perfect, we did exactly what we wanted all week (largely picnics; we love picnics) and we got lots of nice pictures of outfits. However, before I sit down to edit these and other holiday snaps, it occurs to me that I still haven’t posted these photos… Remember how I went on holiday to Valencia last year? No, me neither, it was that long ago. I did though, way back last year and I even got one outfit post up somewhat soon after. And then there’s this one…
Ironically, I’ve been itching to put up this one for months because it’s one of my favourite outfits I’ve ever posted here – possibly that I’ve ever worn. It just made me feel like a goddess – probably due to the combination of the big floppy hat, the heels, the off shoulder top and wiggle skirt… I wasn’t the only one who loved it, B was a huge fan – he even took unprovoked selfies of us this day, rather than me insisting on them every five minutes to keep my Instagram updated (heh).
The reason I’ve been sitting on them is because I have a thing against posting weather-inappropriate outfits. Which is really, especially ridiculous as I live in the UK and two days in a row can feel like they belong to different seasons (like yesterday: sunny and warm; today: cold and raining). Somehow, regardless of this undeniable fact, I still can’t bring myself to post a summery outfit in autumn, despite the fact I happily read blogs from ladies around the world and have no problem seeing winter clothes in summer myself (go figure). Anyway, it’s late June now and I feel if I keep waiting for the UK’s sun that never comes, it’ll be a whole other year before any of my summery outfits appear here (supposedly we’re getting a heatwave in a few days, mind you) – so, as I’m fresh from the memory of what warm weather feels like…
I really hope you all love it as much as I do – the suspense has been killing me!

So lovely and elegant, such a great hat! I love hats but I always worry about getting hat hair 😛

I definitely got hat hair with this one… I just wore it on a day I was going to be outside a lot so I didn't feel the need to take it off until I got home 😉

Don't you just love those days when you put together a combination of clothes that just makes you feel amazing!

It weirdly doesn't happen as often as it probably should, considering how much of my energy I devote to thinking about outfits!

You look tres chic! I wish I could suit a hat as well as you do, I need it in the sun being a redhead!

I'm a firm believer that there's a hat out there for everyone… I think I suit a few because my head is quite small and it can take it!

Goddess indeed, so much fabulousness!! I too have a bit of a problem with the season-appropriate versus the weather-appropriate. It does seem wrong to break the 'season rules'. I posted some pics recently that were all gorgeous and sunny. They were taken in March. The photos I took in June, look like they were taken in the depths of winter. Sigh. The UK is so problematic!!

I am pleased you had a wonderful time, and I can't wait to see all your pictures!!!

Ha I've done the exact same thing on the posting spring photos now! My photos, at this point, are completely out of order. It's a good thing I never change my hair or things would look really weird. Clearly, for as long as I blog I can never change my hair… xx

You look absolutely sensational! This outfit is fantastic on you. It's such a perfect holiday look, especially with that hat. I see why you were so excited to post the photos, they are gorgeous.

Aw thank you 🙂 I was quite pleased with it – it's definitely largely about the hat!

Love this! I can see why you felt like a Goddess…you look like one!

It's probably long sold out as was last year's, but there's soooo many similar ones around this year!

And you look like one (a goddess) in it as well! What a classic, truly beautiful outfit and silhouette that it creates. I can totally see why you're beyond in love with it.

Welcome home, sweet gal! I hope you have a terrific end of June/start of July!

I love that you mentioned the silhouette – you're absolutely right, I think that's why I love it! x

I remember loving this on Instagram! It's so gorgeous and glamorous! I totally relate to struggling with "appropriate outfits." Even here in Denver, CO, a place where everyone thinks it snows year round we can have 70 degree days once a week in the dead of winter. My Instagram friends are always wondering how I'm in dresses with no tights…but I didn't need them! Lol. Great post! XO

Ha, I know, I get everywhere… We don't get anything as extreme as really warm weather in winter, but we do seem to constantly live year round in the same season, which is awkward for seasonal posting 😉

Oh! I am in love with this outfit so much, especially the floppy hat! That is so adorable on you. I hope you had a great vacation-it sounds like you had a wonderful time! I am not able to go on one this summer so I will have to live vicariously through everyone else 🙂

It was amazing thanks 🙂 As you'll no doubt see from my latest post! Such a shame if you're not able to have one, but there's always next year!

    • July 2, 2015 / 12:13 pm

The hat is definitely what makes it 🙂

Your floppy hat really is the bomb ~ you look absolutely gorgeous in this outfit. I really love all the shades of blue in your color palette too, it's a very refreshing look.

I know what you mean about outfit photos in the right season though ~ I don't take very many outfit photos that I don't immediately post. I feel like if I leave them for too long, they will be too "old" and at the wrong time, so I can't use them! 😛

I'm glad you've commented on the blues – I was a bit worried they clashed!

I've got into a bad habit of posting my photos nearly a year after I take them – I tend to go through bursts of taking them when the weather is nice and then I end up with too many to post at once. Hence I've actually got a batch even older than this lot from last summer still to put up!! xx

You look fabulous in this outfit, it really suits you and you can see how much you are enjoying wearing it. Great skirt. I have just bought a huge floppy hat so find this look very inspiring. Mine was £10 in tkmaxx so I felt it would have been rude to leave it!
