Outfit: good enough to eat

Hello..? Can you all hear me?? Bloglovin' haven't been able to transfer those of you who followed my 'old' blog yet (apparently there's 'technical difficulties', argh!), so I'm a bit worried I'm talking to myself with this post. But perhaps by some miracle it will update both my old and new profiles..? You never know... Meanwhile, my new Bloglovin' page is here, in case you wanted to move yourself (at this point it might be the only way!).

Anyway, as you might have gathered from this post where I talked about how I'm always trying to acquire items of clothing that can be worn in as many ways possible and basically go with everything, you might imagine that I'm a bit reluctant when it comes to the more 'statement' of pieces. This cardigan from Collectif definitely falls into that category. It has dangling cherries on it - dangling cherries (now there's a phrase you never thought you'd hear and I never thought I'd write)!

I feel a bit cheated by this cardigan though - I bought it thinking it would go with lots of things; it's cream - neutral - with splashes of red - that's fine, it's usually difficult to stop me adding splashes of red to my outfits. However, of all the mountain of clothes I own it goes with... jeans and black. I tried putting it with patterns and it just didn't look right, nor did other colours. It basically wants to hog the limelight of every outfit it features in and my other clothes don't like the competition.

Fortunately, it's very pretty so I don't mind it stealing all the attention now and then. The cherries are so fun and make up for the fact I'm terrified of washing it in case they get ripped off (everything goes in the machine at my house, I'm afraid). They're definitely good enough to eat - which is what you want from something that's not as easy to wear as you were hoping!

  1. Love. love love that cherry sweater!!!
My problem is that I buy things I like, more so then buying it to match something I already have. It's a super bad habit and one that I'm desperately trying to stop. My new theory is it has to at least go with 2 other things in my closet and not just jeans because then I could justify so many things.haha

    1. That's a good theory! I can usually think of one thing a piece of clothing will go with, but thinking of two would be quite helpful as it's just that bit harder enough...

  2. This sweater is adorable and I love how you've styled it. I can see though where it might be a bit of a challenge to style with other pieces.

I practically only buy statement pieces so my wardrobe is very challenging, but that's how I like it. Stretches one's imagination : )

    1. If that's the way you shop then you'll have your own genius methods for working them things into outfits - my brain refuses to work that way!!

  3. I don't know what's happening, but I've tried to leave a comment twice and when I hit publish it just disappears?! Ok, final attempt...

I just wanted to say that I really love how your lipstick matches the shade of red on that adorable cardigan, it looks so put-together being matching, and this style really suits you, you're such a cutie-pie in this ensemble!

Also, handwashing, who has the time?! I stick everything in the machine, and that includes 'dry clean only' coats, evening dresses, lingerie and embellished items. I use those mesh garment bags to stop things snagging on the drum and as long as you use a gentle and cool 'handwash' cycle I find things are fine. And a gentle spin too!

Hope you're having a super week xx

    1. At least this one made it through ;)

I actually think the lipstick matching was a neat trick of the photos as they were slightly unmatched in reality... but I'll take camera wizardry any day!

And definitely on handwashing - I think I've handwashed approximately twice in my whole life - I just use the handwash cycle like you do; surely that's what it's there for?! xx

  4. Another "machine wash only" one here - I have to admit, I've ruined a few things that way (mostly lingerie), but seriously, who has the time to hand wash everything?! Anyway, love the cardigan - you can't blame it for wanting to hog the limelight when it's so pretty!

(Also, I came here via Bloglovin', so hopefully the issues have been resolved!)

    1. Ok yes, lingerie can be dodgy in a washing machine... but mine still all goes in there anyway!

One set of Bloglovin' issues were resolved... and now I've got a brand new set. GAH.

  6. Your cardigan is so super sweet and looks terrific in this outfit! Seriously, I'd do the same and put up with it not matching my wardrobe, and being hard to wash! Although, like Porcelina, I'd probably put it in a lingerie bag and wash it with a gentle, cold water cycle. I so don't have time to handwash.

Actually, I really want to try and update a cardigan with dangling cherries now ~ though it won't be as cute without that awesome collar!

Oh, and I need to gush about the rest of your outfit too ~ a cable knit pencil skirt?? It looks so cool! I love how these two pieces are really unique and different from anything I've seen. Fabulous look Cici!

    1. I think I need to get some of these lingerie bags... I'm so terrible I don't even do that, everything just goes in the machine the same!

I have a real thing for cable knit pencil skirts... I don't know why, but I feel like you do I guess - they're unique and both casual without being dressed down completely. Plus, they're so comfortable and stretchy! I highly recommend. xx

  8. Cici,
Washing it should not be a problem, if you're doing it by hand.. and if you are drying it on a flat surface (on a towel). I speak from experiance, since I have a lovely green sweter with flowers arond neckline.

    You look amazing!

  9. You look absolutely lovely! These images are gorgeous, and what a sweet, playful cardigan! I love the fun cherry motif, but the only trouble with clothing like this is that it makes me hungry!

Sorry to hear you've had trouble transferring your followers. I've just checked on Bloglovin' and can confirm that your latest blog post is indeed showing.

Anyway, it's always a pleasure to visit your blog.

  10. This is looking so cute! I love it!
I could see what you mean about it being focus pulling (those cherries are kind of an attention getter), but I feel like I could see it with any solid skirt, really. Cream, black, red, maybe even blue? Or stripes might be fun too, if you have any striped dresses or skirts. It's such a fun piece, I'm sure you'll find more ways to wear it.
I have a pair of shoes that I thought would be way more versatile than they actually are. I thought they were kind of an oxblood red, but they're more of a metallic burgundy purple - very pretty, but they almost actively clash with a lot of my clothes in person. I really need to stock up on some basics, but it's hard when there's so much pretty, fun stuff out there.

    1. Well I've checked off the black skirt... I don't own a cream or true red one, but navy I've got... hmm... I somehow don't have a striped skirt either! Not sure how that's happened.

I have no idea what I'd wear with metallic burgundy purple!!

  11. Hey Cici :) I agree with what you're saying - I'd think the same way. It's cream, it's pretty simple, so it'd go with everything right? WRONG! Lol. But hey you make this outfit works with the most amazing skirt and I love the way you style this ensemble! :) I love it!!

  14. Yes - that sweater is fantastic! I love how the cherries are 3D and not just a print. It might be hard to pair it, but I think it'd look cute over a simple print, like a small gingham or something? Either way, adorable!

  15. That's a super adorable cardigan! I've seen in on Modcloth and have been tempted to buy it... I didn't even realize it was by Collectif <3 Too bad it doesn't go with as much as you thought it would :( That's always a bummer :(
