Outfit: pin-up picnic

There’s little I like more than summer weather and picnics – it combines two of my absolute favourite things: sun and food.

And if it isn’t ridiculously hot, which in the UK is quite a common occurrence, it’s probably a good time to bring out my favourite denim capris. They’re a Collectif style from a couple of years ago – but if you like them they’ve got some similar at the moment, so you know where to look! They’re super comfy, which always surprises me as they’re quite a wiggle to get on and a snug fit. That snug fit seems to have the massive advantage of holding everything in. They also have lovely sailor-style details on the buttons…

As you can see, I’m pairing my capris with an appropriately pin-up style top, which in this case was an absolute bargain buy from Asda, of all places! I love the pattern and the bow detail in the centre, which you can wear looser or tighter because you tie it yourself – which changes the dip of the sweetheart neckline.

And no pin-up look would be complete without a flower tucked into the side of your hair…

Or a pair of cute shoes, which in this case are another bargain buy I keep finding myself reaching for as they’re both comfy and add an instant retro touch to outfits with their knotted strap. I love them so much I’ve just bought a second pair in red…

Hair flower: ASOS
Top: George @ Asda (new, but already out of stock – similar)
Capris: Collectif (old, but they often have similar or try these Oasis ones)
Shoes: H&M
Lipstick: Nars Heat Wave (get it at Sephora)
And as no post about a picnic is complete without a picture of someone stuffing food into their face, here’s B tucking into some cheese…

As this feels a touch mean and he wasn’t exactly thrilled I wanted to put this photo out into the world, I’ve allowed him one arty shot too, complete with fluffy pollen floating towards his face.

Oooooooo!! Love this outfit so much!! I saw that top in Asda, think it came in pink also?? But I had a strong talking to myself moment, saying I didn't NEED any more gingham… I love capris too, they're perfect for a retro casual look. Sorry if I've been a bit quiet this last week or so, I've had a lot on. Hope all ok with you x

It did come in pink too ๐Ÿ™‚ I have no willpower when it comes to Asda, Tesco etc – it's all such good value I can't talk myself out of it! And no worries, all is well ๐Ÿ™‚ x

Ah, I love everything about this look…and now I need to head to Asda to see if they have any more of those tops! I just managed to wear out a pair of wedges just like yours on a day out last week, so I guess I need to head to H&M too!

Fingers crossed – the problem is when they get cute styles they're snapped up so darn fast! My shoes are actually flats, but they do look like they should be wedges, you're right! Complete bargain though for a tenner ๐Ÿ™‚

Aha, that makes sense: I couldn't find them on the website, but did find the flats, which were obviously them all along! Just ordered them in red: fingers crossed they fit!

I don't do much denim, but I love these capris! I think I"ll have to get a high waisted pair eventually ๐Ÿ™‚

You should – they're so flattering and comfortable! ๐Ÿ™‚

You look so fabulous, like a real old school pinup. Love those capris (the anchor buttons!) and the adorable gingham top. And your boyfriend is so funny. Mine is also quite the prima donna about what photos of him I am and am not allowed to post online.

I haven't even mentioned the ones he said 'well, you can delete that!' to, before snatching the camera out of my hands to dispose of the evidence… I think he might be as much of, if not more, of a prima donna than me about what goes up here ๐Ÿ˜‰
