Outfit: wedding outfit - wiggle #2

Back earlier this year, I went to a second wedding reception, after this one... very ironically at the exact same location as two weeks before (made weirder as it was only the 7th or 8th wedding said venue had ever hosted!).

I couldn't bring myself to wear my Hell Bunny dress for the third time in as many weeks where I was going to be photographed, so I went for one that has been living at the back of my wardrobe for a little while now - a very simple shift pencil dress from Collectif. As it is a rather plain dress, I prettied it up with a large hair flower.

Dress: Sandy dress, Collectif
Hair flower: Retro Vixens
Shoes: Limited Colleciton, Marks & Spencer

It was so nice to re-discover something I had thought I'd probably never wear again. This particular dress pops up occasionally on eBay still, as do a lot of Collectif's older styles, for bargain prices. Worth keeping an eye on!

Make-up: Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede lipstick in Finale

It might be obvious, but I'm a little obsessed by the new Revlon Ultimate Suede lipstick range and have now got three in my possession, the other two being Designer and Trendsetter.

This shade is a warm reddish mid pink - it's darker than Designer and redder, warmer and not as bright as Trendsetter.

It comes out of the tube pretty true to colour. I like this as a daytime pink.

Revlon ColourStay Ultimate Suede Finale natural light

Pros
  • Pretty cherry-pink lip colour that's just a step darker than my other favourite in the range, Designer
  • Does come out like it is in the tube, which I've found isn't always the case with this range
  • Minimal transfer
  • Long-wearing - not as much as Designer, but I think that's because it's a darker shade so more noticeable when it wears off; but note that does take hours still!
  • Great packaging
Cons
  • The fact that it does wear off slightly faster than lighter shades in the range
  • I think it's ever-so-slightly more drying than others, but I still don't need to wear lip balm so not a big deal

Now which next... I have my eye on Couture!

Outfit: sweater girl

Ok, weather, I give in. You're clearly determined with this winter thing you've got going on, so I've dug out a jumper just to keep you happy.

Not just any jumper, a pink jumper!

The colour and shape reminds me of a 50s sweater girl look, so I've teamed appropriately with kitten heels and polka dots. I almost never wear pink, let alone baby pink like this, but on second thoughts perhaps it's not so bad after all.

Jumper: H&M
Skirt: My Little Halo (old)

Outfit: stripes and leopards

It's that time again, time for long-sleeved t-shirts... and stripes and leopard print together. And that's really all there is to it.

I am glad to be reunited with my yellow suede shoes after a summer of neglect.

More to come on this pencil skirt, which is one of my new favourites.

Top: H&M
Scarf: H&M
Belt: New Look (old)

Photo diary: back by the sea

Just a few photos while I adjust to the horror which is being back at work once your last holiday of the year (until Christmas) is over.

Another stay by the sea for a few days, soaking up the last of the summer.

Highlight of this holiday was a boat trip to see some wild seals. Absolutely incredible. What I liked best about them was how casually fascinated they were by us humans - they all turned to look as the boat went past.

Several of them swam alongside us.

But weren't nearly as graceful caterpillaring back onto shore!

We were lucky enough to have beautiful sunshine that day.

Although we did get on the wrong tour boat as far as I was concerned - the other one leaving when ours did had two furry passengers on board (see if you can spot them!)

When we weren't on the sea, we did a lot of staring pensively out of windows at it while waiting for our fish and chips... (a lie of course, if I ate fish and chips every day there I would now be 5 stone heavier). This restaurant had an amazing view of the sunset.

Because I had the time to, I did a bit of hair experimenting again. This time I tried pinning hair rolls to the top of my head to make an up do and I think it came out quite nicely.

Back to reality now...
